Apex in Action ... 2006-06-10 Deep Creek 4X4
Not happy with Happijac or TorkLift, Harry decided to custom fabricate his own camper tie down design.
Front Mounts....
Bolted to
the frame with (3) Grade 8 bolts and (1) bolt thru the bed rail.
TorkLift
FastGuns are used for quick easy securing.
Rear Mounts....
Welded
to the stock Ford receiver. (yes, I did not paint after welding yet!)
Yes, a 1
inch round hole must be cut in the truck fender. Get over it already.
Screw in a
1/2 forged eye bolt with collar. Attach
TorkLift Fast
gun.
Foam purchased at Foam Sales and Marketing in Burbank, CA.
This mod is used to raise the camper about 2 inches up so as to clear the truck cab. This is a Ford thing. As the Ford cab height is taller than other makes.
The foam is lightweight and serves as a great insulator. The 2x6 board keeps the camper from hitting the cab back window and also keeps the camper from smashing the trucks tail lights.
High Load foam (3) 2 ft wide panels cut to fit bed. Duct taped together.
Place a 2x6 board against front of truck bed.
A rubber mat is placed on top of the high load foam.
A bed rug siding is placed in the bed.
The bottom bed rug piece unzips from the side piece. The bottom piece of the bed rug is NOT used
(2) rubber blocks and (2) Teflon slides are screwed thru the bed rug and into the 2x6 board. The block keep the camper from shifting from side to side.
12 V Hella Turbo Fan
This allows air to be tilted down to the dinette table or up and over to the
bed.
The picture is with the Apex's roof in the popped down or lowered position.
More mods to be posted later.
