Memories....

Grandma,

I wrote the following poem when you visited my elementary school for Grandparent’s Day 20 years ago.  I remember that I was too scared to get up in front of class to read the poem, but you didn’t care one bit. You always supported me and were always proud of me, whatever I did. You were there for every important occasion no matter how large or small. Holidays, birthdays, graduations, my wedding. Always smiling, always laughing, always so very sweet and sincere and loving—not just to me, but to everyone around you. I never once in my life heard you raise your voice or speak an unkind word about anything or anybody. Thank you for being the kind-hearted, amazing, generous woman that you have been in my life and in the lives of my entire family. Your unconditional love and encouragement has meant so much to me growing up and has shaped my life in countless ways. You will always be a part of me. Love always, your namesake, Trisha

Generous are my grandparents

Respectable that is thee--

Able to do most anything

Never worrying me.

Describing you, I’d have to say

Perfection is not far away.

Altruism’s what you’ve got,

Ridicule is what you’ve not.

Easy to get along with you, you’re

Nice and fun to be with too!

Thoughtful you’re in every way.

So I’m glad to have you here today!

My grandma Patricia Stuver she was a nice, caring, and loving person. I never thought that this would happen to her and I am very sad it did. I would always play with her with my basketball and volleyball. But we would get in trouble because we played in the house. When I was small I always looked up to my grandma. When I was sad she sang songs to me. I would always ask her to play piano on my back. She would always tickle me and make me happy. I am very sad she is not in our lives but she is in a better place now. I will miss her and she will always be in my heart.

With all my heart,

Andrew Joshua Stuver

I have many fond memories of Aunt Pat but just a couple popped in to my head as I heard about her passing. First, when I was a very little girl, Aunt Pat was a single lady living near by in Torrance. We used to go by and pick her up and we would go shopping or sometimes to a family gathering. She would sit in the back with my brother Bill and myself. I would sit next to her and love to hold her hands and look at her nails. She always had beautiful long finger nails with red polish. I think she was the first person I remember with such beautiful hands and nails. Isn't it funny what we remember?

I was also pleased to have her and Uncle Jerry come to our home in Georgia. We didn't get allot of visitors and it was so nice to have them there with Mom and Dad and our friends Edith and Art. Aunt Pat, you are a special lady. Always having a smile for others.

You Will Be Missed!!!!

Your niece Sheila

The thing that I remember most about you, Aunt Pat, is your shy laugh.  What a beautiful laugh!  I remember thinking that you were the most beautiful of my aunts, and I had a crush on you when I was a kid.  Married to Uncle Jerry for 45 years?!?!  I must have been disappointed when you got married, Aunt Pat, but I don't remember that.  I just remember your beautiful, shy laugh.  I will never forget that beautiful laugh.  Rest in Peace, Aunt Pat.

Your nephew, Pat

Pat,

As my wife she could be happy living in a shoe box. We never had an argument. That did not mean we agreed on everything but, it’s very hard to argue with someone so nice. We traveled allot, Pat enjoyed things like Niagara Falls, The Tower in Sidney Australia, The Arch in St. Louis. She never once argued with me as to where we were going. I felt secure when she was with me. She gave me the courage I would never find in myself.

My friend and lover.

I just felt good.

Jerry

My Grandma had a laugh that could light up any room. As a child, I use to love being around her just to hear her laugh; I felt that that laugh could
make everything alright. And, even today, when I think of my Grandma, I smile and give a giggle. I know I am still laughing along with her today. I
will always miss you Grandma. Thank you for being my Grandma, and thank you for taking such great care of my Dad and Uncle and Grandpa. You will
always be in my heart. I will love you forever. Thank you for always being so giving and making me smile.
Rest with God in peace. I love you.

Michael

MOM
Some people make a difference just by being who they are. That was you MOM. You showed us your loving ways ever time we saw you, with a loving smile, a warm hug and that contagious laugh you always had. You had that inner light that touched us very much! We LOVE you MOM and will miss you, but you will have forever played a big part in our lives and All the priceless moments that we have will be forever treasured in our hearts.

 Love, Steve & Debbie

During Aunt Pat's last year of life, my parents, Bob and Betty Marcotte, visited with her frequently at Artesia Gardens. Even though it was difficult for
them to see her continued decline, they so enjoyed the time they spent with her. My Dad would often bring up memories from their childhood in the hope that it would spark in her some recognition and sometimes it did! Often, mentioning one of her sibling's names would bring a sparkle to her eye.

For me, I will remember Aunt Pat as she was in my youth---a slim, sweet lady with pretty dark hair and an infectious laugh. May you rest in peace, Aunt
Pat.

With love from your niece, Carol

I was so very sorry to hear about Pat. It was a real pleasure to have known her for about the past 40 years and to have her as the most wonderful and caring neighbor and friend that you could want. She frequently came over to talk with Betty and me and would always volunteer to take care of our house and yard when we were on one of our many trips.

Dearest Aunt Pat,
Well I can see that I am not the only one who will have the sound of your laugh living within me. You are as distinctive and beautiful a person as was your laugh. I will always treasure the thoughts of our Family Christmas parties and how gifted we were to be part of such a loving clan. We kids had a wonderful time playing together, but I would always take notice of how close and loving the adults were with each other as they reminisced and caught up with the happenings of the year. Laughter was in full flower on those evenings and the sweetest and most identifiable of those sounds belonged to my Aunt Pat Stuver. Aunt Pat was most comfortable in the kitchen and involving herself serving the guys with the baked goodies that all of my Aunts had lovingly made. I was in cookie heaven! In my view, the stature of a person comes from the quality of how they touch the people that come into their lives. My Aunt Pat's touch will tenderly live within me till my last breath. You are dearly missed, but I take comfort in knowing the Family party is reforming again in the promised "next life" and they are praying for us left behind. May God hold you close.

 Love, Dick Van Dusen

People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."
To me this quote personifies Aunt Pat.  She always made you feel special and welcome.  Her trademark laugh and warm easy smile made you feel comfortable and at home.   She will be sorely missed, but warmly remembered - I don't think you can think of Aunt Pat without smiling.   :)

Fondly,
Gigi

I remember Aunt Pat as fun loving and happy, with a ready smile when visiting their house with the Gannon Family( no easy visitation w/ 10 of us)
I remember all the family gatherings and the three sisters, Miriam, Betty & Pat all laughing about some fun stuff. That infectious humor will be her legacy and I'll remember her fondly.
