Dr. Yuen,

My name is Harry Stuver and I am the founder of the group Concerned Residents Against Pistol Range Redondo (CRAPRR).

Today I dropped off a few documents which I hope you take the time to read and comprehend the extent of the issues at hand.

It was a surprise to me that you failed to include a sentence recommended by the DTSC in your letter to parents dated 9/4/2008.

“Teachers and parents need to be vigilant to discourage children from handling, playing with, or putting small lead fragments into their mouths.”

We feel you have not updated the parents on the seriousness and status of this continuing issue so we as concerned residents must inform the parents.

Another of our  concerns is the school grounds have NOT been cleaned to a satisfactory level. Also as the RBPD continues to shoot there is no guarantee that bullet fragments no longer get expelled from their location. Their remedial remedies do  not  guarantee that fragments can occur. We have no way to guarantee the use of frangible ammo is always being used. Even if it is the copper dust is a health concern. And the noise is still a concern. The only way to 100% guarantee our safety is have the city enclose the pistol range.

Concerning the Redondo Beach pistols range bullet fragment and noise issues, the issues and actions have now risen to a level where CRAPPR is taking action at the next level.

During this next level we will be handing out flyers summarizing the issues and status of the Redondo Beach Pistol Range actions on public sidewalks leading up to Towers School to parents. At no time will we be on school property and will not impede the normal flow of auto and pedestrian traffic.

We also will be involved in a news documentary that will document the issues and actions. You soon will be approached for any comments concerning this issue. Hopefully you will comment but if you don’t that is understandable.

Also a possible public protest on public sidewalks in front of the pistol range will be scheduled. This would impact the normal flow of traffic as the protest will be during school hours and coved by news crews. We will inform you if and when this may occur. We hope to avoid this disruption by having the city of Redondo do the right thing and enclose the range.

You are always free as is the public to attend our CRAPRR meetings.

The next meeting is scheduled for 10/28/09 at 7:00pm

Thanks

Harry Stuver
